We are updating our guest bedroom for the One Room Challenge! If you’re new here, check out my previous posts for more information on the One Room Challenge, how it all works, and why we’re updating the space.
Well week 3 came very quickly! I’m happy to report that the guest room is painted! I was shocked to learn that it took 3 coats of paint. I thought 2 would be sufficient since we were painting over a light gray, but here we are 3 coats later.
I decided to go with a paint color that already exists in our house – Porcelain by Sherwin Williams. It’s somewhere between an off-white and a light beige. Now ideally I would have chosen a color just for this room, but I didn’t want to add yet another paint color to our home since I feel like we already have a lot of colors going on. Porcelain is the color of all of our trim – we have a very old home and there is so much trim including somewhat intricate baseboards, so we aren’t changing the color any time soon. I knew I wanted the guest room to be white-ish, so I decided to use Porcelain. We put the same color on the wall and trim, but all of the trim is a higher sheen.
Now that the room is painted, it’s time to get started on my favorite part – decorating! As I mentioned last week, I want the room to feel eclectic – while I don’t want a lot of things in the room, I do want each thing to feel special.
Here is my design board for the room:
I’m so excited to get decorating, and to show you the new stuff I have along the way. Luckily I was able to score a few vintage pieces before COVID was in full-swing, and I can’t wait to show you guys!
See you next week!
